The purpose of the three-day event was to link the Test of Oral English Proficiency for Academic Staff (TOEPAS) to the Common European Framwork of Reference (CEFR), with the goal of increasing the TOEPAS result transparency for cross-institutional and transnational use.

The primary audiences of the handbook are EMI lecturers and EMI trainers who would like to become aware of the characteristics of the EMI teaching context. The handbook is intended for use as a self-reference guide or as a supplement in EMI teacher training programs.

The corpus comprises transcripts of naturally occurring, non-scripted face-to-face interactions in EMI classrooms. Currently the TAEC Corpus includes 30 transcripts from 30 different lecturers at five universities.
